Where have I been?

I just saw this on Lion Brand's blog and can't believe I've been missing it all these years ....

Seems that back in 2005, a wonderful woman had a brilliant idea to bring knitters out of their homes and out onto the streets. This thing is big! They have WWKiP Days all over the world .... now, altho I'd LOVE to be able to knit in London, or Buenos Aires, or even New York ... I'm here in my little corner of Northern Virginia ...

But that's ok because I can knit in public on June 13th and June 20th ... and no one can tease me (even my family) because I'm part of something bigger ... something that knows no borders .... the world knit in the round as it were.

So get out your needles and yarn and head outside ... check if there's a group event nearby or be brave and just knit out in your front yard ... or on the train ... or bus ... or in the car and know that you, too, are part of something bigger!

How cool is this?

So my kids love going to Rockies games -- even if the Rockies aren't the best team in the league, somehow going to a game is always a lot of fun (and can be a relatively inexpensive family outing). On Saturday, July 28th, the Rockies will play the LA Dodgers in a 6:05 game; growing up in California (Giants land, y'know) I can't STAND the Dodgers! I'm hoping the Rockies win BIG.

However, the really cool thing about this game is the added benefit that this is also the Rockies' "Stitch 'n' Pitch" night where folks of all ages and genders will bring their stitching to the game, sit in a special section, and stitch while the teams pitch (get it?)..... So String Bean and I will get to sit with the knitters (and other lesser-stitchers) while Dad, LegoManiac and Bam Bam will be up in the "Rock Pile" (aka, CHEAP seats) cheering for the Rockies (altho Bam Bam claims he's going for the Dodgers!).
