Sweater for those not-so warm days wearing a sleeveless dress

Here's a sweater I finished in time to wear on Easter. I call it "Edelweiss" It's knit with Coats&Clark "TLC Cotton Plus" -- a worsted weight cotton/acrylic that knits up beautifully. The lace patterns -- a variation of fan-and-feather and a slanted eyelt -- are both from traditional Austrian knitwear. So the pewter edelweiss buttons seemed especially appropriate!

I like the hip-skimming length and the open-to-underarm cardi feel of it. This sweater is perfect for a cooler-than-you-thought spring or summer evening to wear over a sleeveless dress or top! Or to those places that frown on bare shoulders.

Let me know what you think. I thought I'd see if Coats would like to buy the design.....

Jenn -- If you love knitting with cottons you really should try the Cotton Plus (I know that ACMoore and Michaels carry it). It knits up and washes up soft and doesn't split when you knit with it.

Really cool (in more ways than one!)

It is gorgeous, and I love the color. What a beautiful and flattering design. This blog is really making me wish I could knit!

Alice -- now I'm sure you could learn to knit (I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction). After all, a woman who can teach her girls to decoupage while talking on the phone HAS to be pretty crafty!

Jenn -- just describe what you're looking for in a short-sleeved and I'll see what I can come up with.....

I like cardigans when using cotton becuase of their non-stretchability and cotton hangs so well.

Well, thank you for your kind words about the decoupage!!! Slathering colored tissue with watered down Elmer's glue is a bit less involved than this sweater though!

I actually used to love/live to sew, smock, and embroider. Isn't it a shame that with all these little girls to sew for, I can't find the time? Perhaps my grandchildren will get a few handmade gifts from me one day.

Who knows? Maybe one day I might actually take up knitting. For now, I'll be content to gaze in wonder and admiration at the projects and posts in this blog.

Alice -- you are always most welcome to visit and comment at THIS blog. You're always to positive and upbeat.

And don't worry -- I'll get you knitting before that little one that's still "perking" is off to college! Ah -- the power of the internet!

Blessings!

Mary, this is so beautiful. I want one! I hope that Coats buys the pattern so when I am not pregnant I can give it a try.

Hi Mary, I linked here from 4Real and so enjoyed this post. I'm glad you mentioned it!

The sweater is beautiful!! My mum knits beautifully but I'm *still* a beginner after *many* years of dabbling. I will be visiting here more often to get those knitting juices flowing! :)
